I agree with what you say, people have run out of ideas, they sit there, put on a nice old tune and think, ha, this will make me a few thousand if I cover this and make it sound 'good', they then make a few dumbarse [censored] 'hoovers', add a bit of 'reverse whooomph' and then hey presto, the clubbing sheep community will all rejoice in licking the arse of the 'producer' saying what a great tune this is.

There have been some [censored] awful covers done in the past. People who produce this kind of material need to be shot or bitch slapped, the same with people who buy it. I mean it's not that hard writing lyrics, is it?

You program in a melody (no need for it to be original, just sample someone else's), set the dial to somewhere between 140 and 150 bpm, turn the handle and POP! Out pops another track with the same bass sound and the same kick and the hoovers in a slightly different order...

Tom, I presume Creammaster means the rising whooshy noise that they always have at the end of a breakdown.

My thoughts: People that do these "covers", wether it be trance, hard house or whatever, are killing the scene more and more. The whole point, in my opinion, of doing a cover or sampling a big part of an old tune is to improve on the original, whilst fitting it into a new genre.

 

All the efforts lately have been on the backlash of a few that got in the charts, so the dollar signs appeal to many. They take half a day to make and kerching, Ministry will sign it to the lastest clubbers guide.

 

Think of something original to do, or [censored] off and give us "true" producers a chance.
