surely a commercial scene is one that is readily available to anyone without having to look too hard?? The fact you can go to the biggest venues in england and find hardhouse/trance nights there at least once over a weekend suggests a very UN-underground scene to me....

 

Its the same with techno - people call it underground, yet techno festivals in europe attract THOUSANDS of people.....not really underground is it?

 

Another way of looking at it could be how much the big names are paid in their scenes - thats all tied into commercial success

to be honnest, i dont really think of techno as being underground either

 

although if i'm trying to explain to someone at work the kinda music i play, i deffinatly use the word 'underground' just to expell the myth that i play ian van dahl lol.gif
