Going to a Club / Festival / Ibiza, is an effort. Dressing the right way, getting to the venue, getting in, the fairly high cost, cloakroom bar prices ect. I can't for the life of me see why you would want to go through all that hassle if you find it boring.

Having said that there are more clubs on planet than u have weekends in your life, so If you don't find it boring, like me and make an effort, you could be clubbing all the way from your teen's to well into your thirties, like me, or far longer like many people I know.

The one thing I do know is that you have got to really really love music, and love the music that is being played. The rest, the friends, what you have to drink or whatever, whether you get hammered, off your face, or just drink water all night is secondary.

The fashion scene, i am given to understand, revolves around designers, and shows and shops and photo-shoots, and parties. Only rarely do the two world colide. And when they do, it's to the likes Pacha or Rouge for an exclusve after show party. Maybe that's more where u need to be Soph?

my friends are the most important thing in the world to me. music is very important to me, but it's not where near as important as my friends.

i love psytrance like no music ever before - it speaks to something deep inside of me. i love to dance. i love to hang out. i love to chat. i love to get [censored] up sometimes. in brief, i love electronic dance music and much of its culture.

but it would all be meaningless without the ability to share it with my friends.they're not 'secondary'. they come first. by a long, long way smile.gif

In much simpler terms - in other words - cutting the crap clubbing becomes boring week in and week out, do something different now and again. Stay fresh.

KEV, I totally agree with this statement, its like eating chips day in day out, you soon tire eventually!!!

Although I agree clubbing is great & there is great people within the clubbing world, it is not the bee all & end all. thumbs.gif

nod.gif i complete agree with Ali, friends, in general, are the most important element in your life/ activities / sociallising work ect.

All I meant was in a clubbing environment. If you don't like the music, and you are with your friends, it is bearable, but not as enjoyable.

If you love the music, it is amazing, and friends just make it better. So the key thing when you are at a club is to really really like the music. (Which I suspect many people don't). This is basically why i've stopped going to hard house nights...and would never go to RnB Hip Hop or UK Garage.

big e i can totally understand what your saying here! i think i am alot more interested in the funky side of this music and i want to go to more funky nights especially pacha cos ive never been there! i will try to arrange something.

also i totally agree with what you were saying to do with the fashion scene i think i would find pacha and funky clobs more enjoyable. only problem is i dont particually fancy going on my own so will try to arrange something at some point!

i also think this is pure nonsense.

when i was much younger i had a toy called 'Stretch Armstrong' - i'm sure some of you remember that?

i was totally into it. i remember before i got it being obsessed with it. when it arrived, i played with nothing else for months. but, like everybody i grew up and eventually he got put in a box. no idea where he is now.

i grew out of that toy. you couldn't be more wrong if you suggest that means i was never into it.

Back to the subject, I admit it's a bit snobbish to suggest that there is such a thing as a "true clubber" (i.e. someone who never gets bored of it) I guess I was slightly confused by Sophie's choice of words.

Fair enough if you're bored of clubbing, but (rightly or wrongly) "grown out of" can have additional implications. Case in point, Alasdair's example was of a toy, i.e. something people generally "grow out of" when they become an adult!

Maybe I'm just being defensive about my clubbing passion! smile I stand by my comment that, in my experience, most people who reckon they have "grown out of" clubbing were the ones who overly-caned it in their youth, or were more into the drugs than the music, but I'm not necessarily implying that you are like that Sophie!!

There have been a couple of phases over the last few years, where I was slightly less inspired by clubbing, simply because I was finding it harder to find places that played decent music and had a good atmosphere. But every now and then I discover a new club that reignites my passion! In the same way, every now and then I discover a record that reignites my music passion, or make a new friend that makes it worthwhile.

I would only say I had grown out of clubbing if I thought the word "clubbing" was no longer synonymous with dance music and socialising. shrug

i think perhaps my choice of words dont come across well! lol! i am not very good at trying to explain myself when i type! at the moment i tend to enjoy going to bars and cheesy clubs rather then big hard trance clubs!

i think perhaps i havent growne out of it i think i just need to experiance the whole " bar thing" if this makes sence?

its really odd! sometimes i feel like getting married and settling down and other days i feel totally the opposite!!!!

i am so indisisive!!! ( crap spelling!?!!!)

Whats important is that your enjoy what your doing, if it means no longer clubbing then fair enough. You may or may not regain the enthusiasm for clubbin, but the important thing is that you still have fun.

I don't do much on this planet, but David Blaine has taught me that I could do less!!
