"From 10,000 application requests, the final 40 ‘pilots’ have now been selected to take part in the Red Bull Flugtag in London’s Hyde Park on Sunday 3rd August.

 

From the humorous to the serious, the standard of entries is high. Amongst the finalists chosen to take part are; ‘The Flying Scotsman’ from Edinburgh a ‘Giant Football’ from Austria, a ‘Traditional Cockney Pub’ from Preston, ‘Chitty Chitty Bling Bling’ from Dorset, ‘The Full Monty with Wings’ from London and a ‘Flying Elvis’ from Leeds!

 

The “Flugtag”, created by Red Bull, brings its motto ‘Red Bull Gives You Wiiings’, to life – literally! The loony event, which involves manpowered flying machines launching off a 6m high ramp above the Serpentine, demands high energy levels, creativity, bravery and luck!

For the very first time, the Red Bull Flugtag will be staged in the UK, at London’s famous Hyde Park, with over 100,000 spectators expected to attend the free event."
