For some unknown [censored] reason when i boot up my puter, the desktop doesnt have my start menu and any icons on it!

 

Any ideas on ho to remedy this highly irritating situ?

it happened yesterday, i left it running wiv soulseek on like usual, then i came home to it being buggered. Ive restarted it numerous times, but it makes no fooking difference!

Try running Scandisk, check both options and restart, it should find and repair any problems.

and it comes up with no errors what so ever? just boots as normal only minus the desktop and start menu?

Do a system restore.

where abouts wud i find scandisk? bearing in mind i cant access my settings the normal way- i can only run programs thru task manager

Goto My Computer rightclick on C drive (or where ever you have windows installed on) then select Tools, then scandisk.

it sounds like the system cant find the shell. this is usually done by fiddleing with the system .INI files, but i cant c how that could have happened w/o either u doing so or sum1 hacking ur pc. o i doubt it would be that

 

other than that i'm a bit mythed w/o sitting @ ur computer

how do i do a sys restore?
