What is the point of having a username, when people insist on using people's real names in posts?

 

If I wanted my real name posted all over CTW, I would have made it my username (hence me being called Blink, cos that is who I am)

 

Why do people insist on replying to people's posts using their real name?

 

The only reason I can think of is so that they cab show off how popular and "in" they are, cos they know someone's real name.

Well my username is more or less my real name anyway so not too bothered.

 

 

Once you've met people in person and become mates it sometimes feels stupid calling people by their username. Its not showing off, jst that you get used to using their real names.

i dont think its people trying to be more "in". i think its them being friendly. usernames r a good way of easily remembering sum1, but if u know em personally y shouldnt they call em by thier real name? as long as the comment is directed @ em and its not said in a cliquy(sp?) way (which 99% of the time is isnt) then i cant c the issue

I'd have to disagree, I still refer to people I know by their username, because if they wanted their real name used, they would have used it in the first place

Exactly, so someone choses to disguise their identity, and then someone else chooses to reveal it anyway. Do people ask, do they say "Hey Creamy, now I know your real name, can I post it on CTW whenevr I want?"

 

I would be very upset if anyone used my real name on here (not that anyone knows it anyway, well....a couple of people do)

That's the thing though ... once you know there are sound people who you then reveal your real name to thats fine its your choice whether to or not ... its not like there giving surnames or addresses out

 

If you think there of the weirder (sp) variety then choose a pseudonym peoples choice
