Its well under size, and when I select it, the proper path appears, click on continue, and it just disappears! Why?

Did you get an error at the top of the screen, it sometimes shows the error text at the very top of the page. It may help track the problem down.

I don't do much on this planet, but David Blaine has taught me that I could do less!!

No, there was no error text. I have just upgraded to SP3 and IE6 if that helps...
