I can't conect to the internet cos I keep getting a message saying "no dial tone".

And if you can't connect, how did you send this message?

 

Check your modem properties are fine, check the modem cable and connection to wall socket, and check that you're trying to dial through the correct modem.

 

Other than that, I can't think of anything off the top of my head, modems not my speciality.

plug a normal phone into the line, see what u get when u lift up the handset.

 

my housemate has the same prob, found out he had some sort of BT answer machine that was making his dialtone different.

If in doubt, REBOOT
