I use MusicMatchJukeBox, which is also my MP3 player, I find it a great MP3 player, and it does ripping and converting well too...and it is free (is about an 8Mb download)

or try

www.downloads.com for other straight forward conversion tools

Will let you turn:

CD audio into wav/mp3

Wav files into mp3

mp3 into wav files

and its freeware as well so you wont need to find any 'patches' for it laugh.gif

Lame Encoder is meant to be the best you can use (or was 2 years ago)

u run it from a command prompt, can use at 128 or 192 kbps.

i can send u the file if you want

l3enc.exe filename.wav whateveryouwant.mp3 -br192000

is the one u probably want.

file is less than 500k. takes a couple of minutes to convert a normal 5mb track

^ any half decent ripper should let you specify an external encoder so you can use a decent windows UI.

i use audiograbber for encoding to .mp3. it's faster than any other ripper i've tried. it also looks up CD details on freedb so i don't have to type in track names. audiograbber has LAME built in.
