Zonealarm is what I got.

Its DAMN good...my brother uses it aswell and he is a computer genius...he built my PC and HIGHLY recommends zonealarm.

You get a free 30 day home trial then its 1 payment of £24.99 I think.

Yup... A nice Watchguard Firebox Vclass solution....

Oh, you mean a personal firewall? If you're on broadband, grab a router/gateway from the likes of Linksys - you'll have a hardware solution (which is by definition better than a software solution*. It will also, if setup correctly, protect at the place immediately after your broadband router (modem).

* NB, this obviously depends on the funcionality available from solutions you choose to compare!

Zonealarm?

Wouldn't touch it with a bargepole!!!!

But that is prolly more of a personal-strange-whim that techies are prone to... A hardware solution would be much better in any case...

Maria - I meant to say, if you're on dial-up instead of BB, grab an old 486, connect your modem to that, and use FREEsco. On a write-protected floppy, this is the next-best thing to a hardware solution...

Linksys are very big in the SOHO and home networking markets in their own right.

I have a wireless BB router/gateway with built in firewall... Fooking great asset... Whole network protected with a hardware solution. Only cost about £45 too...

That's not bad dude :D

Iv decided, another thing im guna learn of my own back is home networking.

Been in training the last 3 days in work as im "moving over to broadband". But I aint. Well, I may have to untill I find myself another job ASAP.

But anyway, been learning [censored] loads about the wireless network, home networking, routers, configuration of DHCP, IP's, TFTP and loads more - took 2 exams today and i fecking passed aswell biggrin.gif

Was shown how wireless networking works today - it's like an ariel plugged into the CPU - didnt know it was as simple as that !

I hear the best firewall is made out of bricks! scratchchin.gif
