OK you know Lori in Neighbours...? How she had that STI test coz she had unprotected sex, and wanted to check she was all ok...? Good girl, I hear you say. But NO! It's totally unrealistic! Had she only just had unprotected sex they would've made her wait at least a month to do an HIV test, as the signs only begin to show after that amount of time (minimum!)... anyway, it's Neighbours, so it doesn't really matter - at least they're raising awareness. But what gets me is that she now thinks she's preggers because she's on antibiotics while she's on the pill, and reckons she didn't know it would de-activate the contraceptive effects...? Hm, Aussie doctors doing a [censored] job if they let someone slip through who doesn't realise this simple but crucial piece of information!

 

And by the way, can anyone tell me why Valda has that dodgy northern accent? I missed the bit when she came into the show!!!

Carl did actually say it will detect most things, but that she would need a further set of tests in a couple of months. (I checked when I "accidently" caught the evening edition after "accidently" catching the luinch time edition, because I thought I heard him giving dodgy advice....not that I ever watch it of course!!)

Ah, well that's good then. Those initial tests only pick up bacterial infections like chlamidia (is that even how you spell it?!?!)... coz with the viral ones they cant detect the virus itself... only the effects it has in your body or summink! Glad you are an avid Neighbours fan - ha ha! Ta for clearin that up for me!!!

another thing is that the Valda issue and the Susan issue have totally made Lyn flip and get well pissed off, and she's not normally like that, usually quite docile. so it's totally out of character for her.
