Why the little 'o'?

It's:

Brackets

Orders

Division

Multiplication

Addition

Subtraction

Surely, all the terms that appear in the acronym should be capitalised?

yeh i know \ means divide, but u generally have to put a space in between the numbers your dividing by as without it means a third of a fourth

Same difference! 2 x (three-quarters) is the same is (2x3) divided by 4.

Why the little "o"? Because BoDMAS is usually taught at primary school level, before you learn what "orders" are! "o" is just inserted to make the acronym pronouncable.

It might in some specific computer language, but I'm not aware that "\" has any meaning in the general domain of mathematics...?

The "o" doesnt mean Orders at all....as Mr Liquid said its just put there to make the other initials into a pronouncable word.

Women more intelligent after sex??.. Its true! - cause' afterwards, they always seem to know their way to the bathroom afterwards in the dark without bumping into anything!

Usually - they have to turn on nearly every damn light on in the house just to find the remote for the telly!
