Desperation by Stephen King. Not the usual wasteful drivel, bloody good book.

haven't read that one, and it does surprise me than anyone can call what he writes good. i've read most of his, carrie, pet semetary, geralds game, tommyknockers, and loads more and i still think he's a completely shite writer, i could do better with my eyes closed and my hands tied behind my back.

apologies to any fans but he's just not my cup of tea

'Bringing down the house' - about how teams of MIT under-graduates took the Vegas casinos for millions

'Clubland Confidential' - About how UK acid house made the US clubland and exactly what happened in Miami and New York. A very good and quite scary read.

no i just keep telling myself that a writer who is said to be the best horror witer of the millenium that there must be at least one of his books that is halfway decent, and so i keep reading trying desperately in vain to find the said half-decent book

among books i've read recently are:

kitchen confidential by anthony bourdain - highly recommended. it's writen by a 4-star chef and it's about his career. lots of sex, drugs and rock and roll. fore somebody who is not a writer, he's a great writer.

gentle bridges edited by francisco j. varela and jeremy hayward - several western scientists were invited to discuss the interface between the cognitive sciences and buddhist psychology with the dalai lama. the book is the tranbscription of their discussions on subjects including the mind and the brain, the self, perception, evolution, artificial intelligence...

the four agreements by don miguel ruiz - read it. you know you want to... smile.gif

elton john by philip norman - elton john's biography. i'm not an "elton john" fan but i read a lot of biographies and this seemed like an interesting read. it was.
