I can honestly say that every one of you guys that I met at the weekend is in my opinion 'sound as [censored]'

 

At the end of the day, a lot of us were meeting for the first time. I hadn't even really spoken to a lot of you on the board. That didn't stop us getting together and having a [censored] excellent night.

 

A sound person to me is someone that when you meet them they just seem genuine. Someone who just shows the real them, no front, no talkin out their arse, just looking to have a laugh. There's enough dickheads out there who want to just stir [censored] up...Let them get on with it! But the majority of us are just here to enjoy ourselves.

Everyone's got different talents, attributes and life experiences - so it's difficult to define what a "sound" person is for me.

 

The only attributes that I'd say apply across the board would be:

 

- Don't [censored] on their mates.

- Learn from their actions/experiences - good and bad.

 

Everything else really is so variable....

I know what your saying but to me its if I see a person and I think they come across as being genuine ie. what you see is what you get.

Yeah, I'd agree with that... I'd add to my list:

 

- If someone is genuine, and themselves - no acting to try and put themselves across as someone they're not.

 

When people do act as something they're not, it really pisses me off - and I feel sorry for 'em.

A sound person IMHO is a genuine, straight-up sort - not afraid to say what they are feeling / thinking and yet having respect for people who deserve it. This sometimes includes saying what you are thinking / feeling in a way that causes least offense without compromising your principles.

 

As a caveat, I'd say that the only people who don't deserve respect are those that you've met and have good reason to disrespect. If you've never met someone before, regardless of what you've heard about them, you owe it to yourself to give them every opportunity to prove themself...you never know when you might be the person who would have brought the best out in someone.
