Creamy, I'm not that big a caner compared to some of the people on here!

All I had friday night was about *had to be removed, sorry - Fin* and a few drinks and this happened, if my body can't handle that then I'm hardly going to take anything more am I! rolleyes.gif

Unfortunatley, amphetimines (speed) and cocaine do carry a risk to the heart. They speed the heart rate up, and sometimes the heart can't cope with pumping the blood round the body with such force/ speed.

Before the use of these drugs became widespread, it was very rare to see a young person in A&E who had suffered a myocardial infarction (heart attack) or cardiac arrest who did not have underlying heart problems.

Sadly, with the rise in popularity in the above drugs (especially cocaine), it is now more common for young adults to suffer heart attacks or cardiac arrests as a direct effect of consuming these drugs.

Also, both can lead to panic attacks, which pushes the heart rate up, and leads to a feeling of a tightening in the chest.

A friend of mine recently suffered this while on cocaine, and the panic attacks and anxiety carried on after this, and is now taking SSRI's (the type of anti-depressant which treats anxiety and depression) to alleviate the symptoms. She has now given up drugs completely.

Hope this helps Tara, and stay safe my dear! xx

I'M HUNGRY!

You're not a canner Tara but let's be honest - your body has seen a lot of drugs for a girl of your age. As sarah said, these things happen for a reason - Take it easy on the drugs hun

Tara...sounds like you have underlying heart issues, with this and the other stuff you were telling me about. I would seriously consider laying off all stimulants, for the foreseable, including tea and coffee, and coca cola (caffine). As well as the obvious. You might want to talk to the doctor about starting regular CV excercise. (Take one of those electrocardiagram tests first make sure there are no weak heart issues. The doctor may not want to do that cos they are expensive, (running machine...wired up chest ect) But Bupa does them, for about £80. )

Cos the stronger your heart the less likely tou are to suffer 'flashback' problems in the future.

Other General Points

1) Alcohol and Fags are by far and away the biggest 'drug type' killers in the UK, they just happen to be legal. Saying 'don't do drugs' should include those. If you are going to take that stance.

2) The younger you are, once you are an adult. the less (physical) harm you are likely to do by absusing your body, with substances, including alcohol and nicotine. However I do think younger people are emotionally & physcologically less well equipped to cope.

3) MDMA is an SRI, As is Amphetemine. Cocaine is a DRI. (Dopamine). All are Endorphine stimulators. SSRI's are just more controlled, and long term SRI's that's why they are called 'selective'.

Yeah I wanna' get one of those heart tests done but the doc didn't think it was necessary and theres no way I can afford £80 atm shrug.gif

I dunno, I'm just going to calm things down a lot and stop taking anything, I don't like the fact that I feel this battered and I'm not even 19 yet shrug.gif

TW next week tho, couldn't be worse timing really!

Isn't the drugs to enhance the night and NOT make you look as if you have just been battered by a bus? And then have shitloads of comedowns / after effects for days on end?

Tara, Hope you're feeling a bit better, mate. All I want to say is, listen to what your body is telling you. Underneath all the cultural biases and cerebral clouding of judgement, our bodies are ridiculously intuitive about what's good / bad for them and what they do / don't need at any one time.

Glad you're still in one piece.

hun

You prolly don't need one UNLESS you intend to continue taking regular cardio excercise at above 130 - 140 beats per min (take you pulse for 10 secs, and times by six) which prolly includes dancing.

They are called Exercise Ecg's and will show up weaknesses that would not normally be seen at rest. I would go back to the docs and say you are worried, and ask to be reffered to the local cardiac unit on the NHS. You might have to wait a bit longer, than if you pay, but iat least it will put your mind at rest. If he still refuses, ask for a second opinion. Ie ask him to refer u to another GP, describe what happened, and let the other GP decide.

Having a flash back attack in the middle of Tidy would not be the best of plans. I'd stay at home hun. Sell ur ticket, and get loads of rest.
