Unfortunately there appears to be only 2 really big name DJs who play the harder end of hard house: ie Karim and Glazby. The fact that people are excited about going to see the same dj after only 2 weeks is more likely to be indicative of the fact that they enjoy that style of music than the dj for his individual merits. From the sets i have heard of his, Karim in technical terms is no better a dj than the likes of Rob Tissera, Lee Haslem, Phil Reynolds etc etc, but he does play a less mainstream type of hard house.

Sorry to re-iterate a well debbated point, but if people were more willing to pay to see the less famous and up and coming Djs playing this type of sound (Ben Stevens, Gilly, Deano through to people like Casper, Andy Moore and ALex Kidd) then you would find that there wouldnt be such an outcry if Karim/Glazby had to cancel their sets.

the reason lisa is probably disapointed is that we have never seen any of the djays you have said above so are not convinced they are a adequate replacement.

its not a mtter of supporting up and coming djays, i do, lisa does (tony is one afterall) but as we are in london, its a different scene and different djays.

two points:

a) Ben is not an unknown, as i stated earlier he does play all over Leeds and is an officail vicious dj

B) how do you reckon that Tidy can get a replacement for a name like Karim at this kind of notice?

Cool

Go & wash your filthy mouth out!! How can you even think to compare Kairm with Tissera & Reynolds lad!!!! winge.gif

His stlye & technical abilities are way different, have you ever stood next to Karim & watched him mix? How cool & relaxed he is & how half the time he dont even que his tunes... AMAZING!!!!! notworthy.gifnotworthy.gif

I will pass my verdict on to you regarding this Ben stevens after the event & if you know him, tell him goodluck & do not let miss_diddy down thumbs.gifthumbs.gifthumbs.gif

ill do that.

I have seen karim mix before, and, like i mentioned earlier he does not, in technical terms appear to be anything special. Not when compared to the abilities of say Ediie Halliwell or Shan.

im aware of that- im talking in terms of ability, and i have no doubt that you could scratch or play accapellas etc over Karims style of tracks, just not the same ones that Shan would use

different stlyes of DJ'ing not necessarily better tho!!!!

IMO Eddie Halliwell wants to lay of the scratching.... Every time I have seen the guy he cocks up!!! Shan well yeh he is reletavily good, but to airy fairy for me!! Just my opinion tho!! wink.gif Soft northerners, no disrespect hon

I agree with your comments there, Shan is a mate of mine (CLANG) but im not a huge fan of the stuff he plays, as im simply a bit bored of uk hard trance atm- its all starting to sound the same.

But, Shan in techical terms blows just about every other Dj on the scene out of the water- try listening to one of his latest demo cds for proof of this, his ability and imagination really are [censored] impressive

As i mentioned earlier, technical ability- 3/4 deck mixing, running accapellas over his mix (which he did to great effect at Parlez Vous back in febuary), general cutting tunes into each other when you least expect it. In terms of pure DJing ability Shan is amazing, despite the fact that he plays girly tunes wink.gif
