Was just looking up phobias on the net and would like to point out a few of the more interesting ones i found...

 

Arachibutyrophobia- Fear of peanut butter sticking to the roof of the mouth.

Helminthophobia- Fear of being infested with worms.

Ithyphallophobia- Fear of seeing, thinking about or having an erect penis.

Lachanophobia- Fear of vegetables.

Phobophobia- Fear of phobias.

Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia- Fear of long words.

Some of them didnt need much thought to come up with.........Take the phobia of Germans for instance.

 

Germanophobia- Fear of Germany or German culture. LOL

 

Aeronausiphobia- Fear of vomiting secondary to airsickness.

How fookin strange??? 2 phobias mixed together to get 1 name??

 

Imagine having this one...

 

Agoraphobia- Fear of open spaces or of being in crowded, public places like markets. Fear of leaving a safe place.

 

...and telling someone about it but you pronounce it wrong...like this...

 

Agraphobia- Fear of sexual abuse.

 

Imagine what they'd be thinking

 

It does make me wonder if all of these phobias are real ones that people actually have or if a group of really bored psychiatrists sit in a room inventing names for them JUST INCASE someone walks in one day and has one.

 

Makes you think, doesn't it.
