    when i have heard freeform sets they usually play high energy almost happyhardcore, but with out the cheesy piano and voice samples.(asa)

    hardstyle is hardtrance without the trance (some m-zone stuff) cally and juice.

    gabba is dutch techno spmetimes can be quite cheesey ie (neophyte if u have heard of him)

    speedcore is really really fast techno (ie smurf)

    i find its only the faster genres that feel the need to break things down into so many sub-divisions with little variation between them.

     

    maybe its my naivety towards the slower end of the scope, but from what i've noticed house etc DJs dont feel the need to break their music down into as many separate categories
