i think you SHOULD need a passport to go to Ireland. its not part of the UK n all..

Yeah but Eire, as its not part of great britain, therefore its abroad. As his flight will not be an internal flight, like say manchester to heathrow.

BTW its about £80 to get a passport in emergency circumstances, which is considered less than a fortnight i think.
