^ Agreed. They think they can get away with spending fuck-all time with their kids, fob them off to a nanny, be impatient with them, row/swear/smoke in front of them, expect there to be no compromise to their own lifestyles ... and then complain when the kids give no respect back and turn out as little shits.

 

I put my status as an exemplary, upstanding member of society down to my parents' attention & discipline in my formative years.

 

Before someone patronises me and tells me I'm being idealistic, kids are a lot harder to bring up than you might think etc etc, I say this: you make your own bed, you fucking sleep in it. I have no intention of having kids, sod that.

i agree with you there. however i on the other hand i do want kids, and i know i want them in the very near future. but because of my up bringing and nic's i know it's our parents influences as a children that will help us be better parents for our kids in the future. lets hope they do what i say! lol

It's funny, today I was walking to the shop & I heard a little girl sobbing her heart out & looked up the road & there she was, about 3yrs old I reckon & then her mother started shouting at her saying *oh shut the F**K* up etc etc & yanked her arm, dragging her along, I was dumb founded, this poor kid, anyway as I got nearer I could hear the little girl & all she wanted was a cuddle & her mum was just abusing her verbally with foul language & this I think answers my question Not good

agreed. but just as you can't compare the list prices of things today (because the value of money has changed) so you can't compare the acts themselves.

 

you need to look at the issue 'in real terms'. so viewed absolutely, things seem a lot worse, but relatively speaking, things are abotu the same?

 

perhaps what we're really discussing is a more general decline in standards?
