only thing my dad has ever bought was the roland VS-880 homstation - and thats because he was in a band and they did slot of recording, the upright piano and the violins. out of 9 guitars 7 of them are his - i have worked hard to get the stuff which i have there - if i was so rich do you think i'd settle for the [censored] i have? no but i make do because its all i can afford.

Its my fault for not asking the question properly - it was off the top of my head really. What I was after was what software do you have and personally use on a regular/daily basis, and what hardware you personally own (and not necessarily still use - I/others may be interested in purchasinge etc..). At first I was going to list FL Studio myself - but a) I've only just started using it (whereas i've been using a flavour of cubase for a while) and I dont think I will be using it on an on-going / daily basis. As Andy says its far better to master just one or 2 applications. Its important we list the stuff we know and use inside out so we are available to help others out - if we all turn into blaggers (like the DJs lol ) we'll get no-where

 

I think this is a great idea - and like the new formalised extended user-profile for DJ Profiles I'm working on I think we should have a check-box to say "I'm a producer" and then another extended profile pops up with these categories ... (+ more) ...

Not a bad idea James. When I first joined, I didn't really get the impression many people were into the producing side of things on here.

I actually came up with the idea of the site originally to meet people who were into making music first and foremost - then I got into the clubbing side more and realised I wanted to be out every weekend - now I'd rather put more time into doing stuff at home like I used to.

As i like the format... heh.
