to record from my minidisc player into my microphone socket on my PC

or for recording a mix shud i record straight to laptop instead and record to minidisc l8r???

Sound Forge (version 6 onwards)

 

Do it whichever way you like. I go straight to the pc, record and edit it in soundforge, the striaght onto cd.

There are a few free ones around as well - I will dig the names out for you but I used to used Cool Edit 2000 (a while back)

 

I also record straight to CDR seperate - and then transer to PC, do track marks etc on the burner software. The quality I find is far superior instead of straight to PC - but then thats down to your soundcard (I only had a shitty integrated one at the time)

 

Nick - he may not have been talking about 'pirating' - most good companies offer a limited demo version for download..

For the benefit of people like Nick G & myself (who like to sleep at night ) you could stay on the right side of the law and use a good shareware program like GoldWave.

Sure, he might have wanted to get a free demo of it then buy the full copy, but let's face it - the chances of that are quite remote aren't they when you've got people like Elemental saying *I'll msn it to you*

never really understood why software is so expeience - ok yes alot of time is involved in making them but still
