its not a label that seems to get much mention yet i think the standard of their output is very high

but then when the producers they have under their belt include:

* Ant

* Chris Liberator

* D.A.V.E. the drummer

* Mark Tyler

its hardly suprising notworthy.gif

quality non-anal acid techno

Not necessarily. Chris Liberator argues that 'acid techno' has grown beyond acid lines. Personally I just call the sort of techno that sounds like more mature harddance 'acid techno'

Surely not? Wouldn't that get irritating after about 10 minutes?!

303s have been milked to death, I can't believe anyone is still making anything new with them!

I thought the whole point of techno is the use of original / quirky / electronic sounds ... something challenging and surprising to the ear ... I think it defeats the point of the genre if you pigeonhole it according to "what kind of sound has to be in it".

correct, its not. it does include the above but not exclusive to it. basically the style of techno i play (that you've heard on my CDs) are all varieties of acid techno. its just another way of saying "techno with breakdowns" in alot of cases. BPMs generally are a touch quicker then Intecs stuff, and a touch slower than hardhouse. its more hardhousy then intec yet still very technoy.

it might sound like a narrow pigeon hole, but when you think about all the possibilities to make techno records that dont have to be as anal as some of intecs (as much as i love that label) its really not a narrow field.

besides, i dont think anyone really classes it as a genre. they just use it to describe a style of techno
