iv been trying to think of the name of an old film i love because i want to buy it on DVD or video

 

this is gonna sound really vague so please bear with me rolleyes.gif

 

brief discription.......

 

a christmas film, black and white....a family man (famous actor of his time but cant remember who) attempts suicide off a big bridge in america on christmas eve, but is saved by someone that shows him what life would be like for his family and friends if he did do it.
