unless you're going to thrash it, Celeron should be fine,

Centrino is the latest buzzword from intel, any notebooks with the Centrino badge have to have certain features:

*Pentium-M (mobile p4 cpu - has better battery life >4hrs, specifically desiugned for notebooks)

*built in wireless lan.

*other stuff

For what you want a Celeron would be fine. You only need to look at high end chips if you are going to hammer your system with games, which you arn't. AMD's 64 bit chip is the one to get at the mo if you are after high end stuff. Intel have brought out a P4 3.2Ghz with 2Mb of on board cache instead of the usual 512k in other P4 chips, but the price of the chip alone is approx £800.
