i'm not trying to start a genre war here, but how can a harddance DJ even compare to techno/prog/trance DJs when it comes to intellegent use of the EQs?

 

harddance by its very nature requires minimal use of the EQs (thats not to say that EQs cant be used effectively). alot of DJs in other fields use the EQs so well that u never even notice that 1 track has ended and another started.

apologies Mr Happy, I didnt mean there is an order / who is better - as you say they are two different genres - i should have just put both make proper use of the EQ

 

actually, I'd have to add corsten into the list, cos when I saw him at Judgement Sundays at Eden in Ibiza, Summer 2002, I really couldnt tell when one track finished and the next started! (up to a point)

ok, maybe they can turn the bass down a little bit quicker.... not many big tricks you can do with eqs tho are there

 

now mixing several tunes at once on the other hand....

I don't think we're talking about "big tricks". Rather, the power to blend tunes together in subtler ways.
