luckily labour have realised its gonna cost them major votes at the next election so are gonna be removing the 3 points from getting caught by a speed camera and only having cameras in accident blackspots. This means that only fines will occur from getting flashed by a speed camera.

The governments idea of an accident blackspot however can change from place to place by fiddling with the figures like they do with all things these days to suit their needs

Is this a pop at Labour or just governments in general?

Blatantly the Tories would do the same (propose changes just to get votes, "fiddling with figures", spin, etc).

Interesting story. I wonder if this could lead to a load of people demanding their fine back...?

If the police haven't retained the required photos, and you swear blind that you didn't break the speed limit, and there's a known phenomenon that can cause inaccuracy, surely you are entitled to your money back by default?

I wonder how long they retain the photos for. It's also interesting that the penalty notices did not make it clear that you are entitled to see the photos.

The camera partnership has apologised for the error, saying it was "an extremely rare occurrence and a known radar phenomenon".

Gonna have to remember this radar phenomenon....

I wonder how rare?

  • CTW DJs

Of course they're gonna say it's rare.

But is rare 1 in 10,000?

1 in 100,000?

1 in 1,000,000?

etc.

dunno about being caught by a dodgy speed camera but I got a £60 fine and 3 points for doing 33mph in a 30mph zone in Preston which I was pretty pissed off with - I thought they were supposed to give you 10% and 2mph extra leeway - so in a 30mph they would fine you if u went over 35mph -- obviously not !!

hate to be picky here but.......if they would let you go 35mph in a 30mph limit......then the speed limit wouldnt be set at 30mph...............no point in having a LIMIT otherwise

Would you pay the fine in the first place if you knew you weren't speeding??

Exactly.

I suspect the "10%+2mph" thing is discretionary...?
