Games to blame??

 

I personally dont think so, I think it's the people who are violent, but what are your thoughts??

 

i think it's an easy story for a sensationalist media

true, but some still blame games & videos for acts like this, maybe they do trigger something off but IMO it is still the person to blame

Yeah right. So the answer is to deny the reality that humans get pleasure from seeing scenes of violence...?

 

Normal adults do have aggression. But computer games are an ideal way to channel that aggression! I think of on-screen violence as being a bit like porn. It's gratuitous titillation (just for different parts of the brain).

 

I love watching films with violence, and dismembering enemies in computer games. It doesn't mean I would do the same thing in real life. Most adolescents who play violent games know the difference between right and wrong. This lad was 17 for god's sake.

 

That lad was obviously fucked up to start with. Perhaps technically he shouldn't have been playing that particular 18-rated game, but that doesn't mean violent games should be banned for adults.

 

Typical "Times"-style knee-jerk reaction. Maybe the parents should acknowledge some responsibility for the way they brought the lad up? At 17 he should know right from wrong, no matter what films he watches or games he plays.

i think that 2 go out n do that they must hav been slightly nutty 2 start wit, n it just so happened that they found a copy of the game in his room, if u look at the overall picture so many folk hav these kind of games n dont go offing other ppl so the media should get a grip

As people have already said, this guy must be a complete fruitloop already to go out and do something like that after playing a stupid game. If he hadn't killed someone now, he would have just gone and done it in a few years.

I think the question that REALLY needs to be asked is, how the fuck did he get hold of the game when it has a raiting of 18? That is the real question here. Yeah he's fucked in the head, but hten the "system" should spot this, but alas it doesn't and something needs to be blamed. Hey i bet if he listened to NIN or Marlyn Manson aswell he would get a far amount of abuse saying to ban his music.

 

Personally i love shooting and killing sprites, however i know it's fake, but by god it's a good way of releasing tension. I mean if anything it probably does stop this kind of aggression from spilling over and you actually hitting someone. It's just there are a few odd balls at there that take it all a little to seriously.
