umm, probably sounds like a stupid question, but can somebody s'plain to us what sort of email accounts are known as 'Pop3' accounts (ones that use 'Post Office Protocol') and how to set up a current email account (such as the one supplied with a tidyfc membership) to retrieve emails and / or information from these Pop3 accounts? uhm.gifblushing.gif ... ta grin.gifthanx.gif

POP3 just is a protocall (as is SMTP, HTTP, FTP, etc).

when you get an e-mail account, the provider should supply you with a POP address and a SMTP address. just enter that (as well as your e-mail address, username and password to the account) into your e-mail program of choice (ie Outlook) and your done.

what are you going to use to retrieve your e-mails?

ahh reeet.... ta grin.gif

...im guessing that it's only email accounts set up with ISP's i.e. BT Broadband that will have the info needed to allow something like Outlook to be set up to retrieve the emails, and will not be able to retrieve emails from hotmail / yahoo type of accounts smile.gif...

...umm, most likely Outlook... or the tidyfc account allows for retrieving from POP3 accounts too...

pretty much all e-mail accounts support it. (although hotmail doesnt as its own by evil bastards)

yahoo used to, but now its only availible to subscribed members

somebody asked us about it jus' last night, so i umm, used your answer to make me look like i knew what i were talking about flowers.gif

You can add your hotmail account to Outlook Express, but not Outlook...

You can also get mail for more than one account, but can only send via one SMTP server, although you can send it using any of the email addresses you have registered...
