Founded by the late Dave Smith in the San Francisco Bay Area in 1974, the company would soon become world-famous thanks to its breakthrough product, the Prophet-5. Launched in 1978, the Prophet-5 would kick start five decades of synthesizer development, a legacy that continues to this day.
