Anyone that used to go to peach must know how pikey that place was and that wasn't a hard house night.

At the end of the day, certain venues and styles of music will attract a certain type of people. The harder/less sophisticated the music and more scummy the venue, it's more likely that the place will be full of fucked up pikeys being off-key.

I guess it doesn't seem to matter as much when you're going through your honeymoon as everything is new and fun but as you get older and more cynical you notice the weirdos. They've always been there.

Anyone that thinks that you don't get these people up north must be living in a dream world. Did nobody got to Insomnispakz back in 2001 or what about shiteholes like Subway city? Even decent venues like Creation in Leeds where SSNorth was held was full of people dropping like flies on ket and geebee.

People don't usually get so fucked up at funkier or proggy nights as it's not the done thing and the crowds are snobbier. I'm sure plenty of girls have had some pissed/coke up twat be really full on and not take the hint just as they've had some sweaty mess lech at them at a hard house night.

Am I a freek if I dress up like Avid Merrion

Do you find that you don't actually have to dress up to make yourself look like Avid Merrion?

Ah the irony of it all.......i dressed up like Avid Merrion for the craic and i'd like to think I got a good reaction because of that...i enjoyed it and if it made a few people laugh, smile or even cringe i'd still do it again but at the end of the day I don't think it's anything to react to because at the end of the day ITS ALL ABOUT HOUSE MUSIC! thumbsup.gif

i disagree, i think its all not about people dressing up like avid merrion.

i mean FOR FUCKS SAKE MAN, WHAT WERE YOU THINKING

What was I thinking.....thinking is for politicans brother and if you read the last five words of my last post (ITS ALL ABOUT HOUSE MUSIC!) that's what i think, know and feel but if we all agreed life would be boring as f**k, so fairplay.

I think there's a good chance that this is (and I am guilty of it quite often) middle class people looking down on people who in general are poorer and take drugs to forget more than enjoy.

I hardly think you have to be 'middle class' to regard drug taking 'to forget' as a pretty bad idea.

Who says middle class people don't take drugs to forget?

And who says taking drugs to forget is the main reason people get so trolleyed?

I think getting 'out of it' on certain recreational drugs can be habit-forming, on a physical and/or psychological level; it doesn't follow that your life outside of clubbing is bad.

I completely agree, you don't have to come into any category to think drug taking to forget is a bad idea, and likewise you don't have to be of any class to be unhappy and take drugs to forget. And nowhere am I saying money dictates freakiness!!!! Whoa!!!

What I am saying is that when Kether was referring to pikeys the folks he's talking about probably are to a greater extent poorer and often unconsciously pushing things a bit further. Note that I'm not saying poor people are bad, etc, it's just too easy to take the piss out of some guy wearing argos gold leching at all the girls and making an arse out of himself stumbling around with huge eyes, etc.

In general though I agree it can be pretty messed up when you see some people together and there's a really weird vibe around them, a wrongness that's difficult to pin down... maybe the plain oddness just comes through taking a journey far too far into places you shouldn't go. Perhaps it comes through having so many hard experiences that it's permanently shaped you in defense against them happening again.
