...to call yourself a DJ or Producer?

There are 100's of people i see on msg boards with names like Dj Bob DJ Harry etc and when you ask them where they have played it's 'at my uncles pub' or 'at my mates house party' because they have played at a few events does that make them a DJ? If someone played their new tune on cdr at their uncles pub, and their mates mate who is also a DJ played it at blahblah does that make them a producer?

Well, as a new person, I hope I do not get gunned down tongue.gif

But I think if a person has been playing the circuit a while and is being booked to play out they can call themselves a proper dj, also the same goes for a producer, it is a tough one because maybe just because you do not play out or have tunes signed, does not make you NOT a d j/producers does it, so basically I don't have a bolloxing idea what im talking about w00t.gifblushing.gif

Well DJ stands for Disc Jockey. Therefore, when they are DJing then they can call themselves DJ anything they want.

When they're NOT DJing then they arent DJ anything.

Simple as that really.

In MY own words.

"I DJ, but I am not a DJ"

"I produce, but I am not a producer"

If that makes sense...

makes perfect sense and is probably what the majority of people are

I was going to post a gag about flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality but it's just flogging a dead horse.
