just in the process off getting a van for my new job. ive paid for it, but not got the paperwork in my name yet. been borrowing the van for last 5 weeks for my 2nd job. i was coming home from work 2day, and got pulled for speeding, which i hold my hands up too. but have too provide my insurance and mot within 7 days. the guy im getting the van off now telling me he cancelled his insurance on the van last week. im fully comp on my car so thought i was covered third party on any other vehicles. now im gonna have too go too police station n tell them whats happened.

 

will i get a driving ban?

Think the van needed to be covered by other persons insurance for you to be covered for it third party, Paula. Sorrry. But I suppose you could just take your documents in and try it! It's strange that they asked for your document just for speeding tho??!!!!

Its routine for them to ask for your documents when they pull you over.

 

I wouldnt try to blag them or anything, just explain the situation and the confusion over the inusrance (you werent to know that he cancelled it), hopefully they will be reasonable. Which they probably will be if you havent had a motoring offense before.

 

Just be as cooperative as you can, maybe also come across as a little bit embarrised and remorseful too.

58 in a 40 zone. but yeah i deserve the 60quid fine n 3 points. all this with the insurance has just made it all worse, cos i told the policeman i was insured, which i thought i was till i got home

i got a speeding fine from january 2000 too,

Just explain the situation with your insurance, thats all you can do really.

 

I think the points only last 3 years so that incident in january should be wiped from your record.

 

Take your fully comp certificate with you when you go to produce, also dont leave it to the last minute (i.e 7 days) as that wont work in your favour.

if u r ova the age of 25 and r fully comp u will insured 3rd party only on another persons car as long as u got thier consent

took all my paperwork in, she just asked who the name off the vehicle owner n said my insurance is above board. didnt hang around too ask any queistions. couldnt get outta there quick enough . so dunno if thats it or not really
