One DJ's opinion on the new Technics CD deck
Dave Clarke Press release: The Move from Vinyl to CD After some time (I wanted to move to CD in 1997) I have finally got a machine that i believe is sonically and technically up to the job of replacing the hallowed and much loved 1210. I was originally asked to demo the Technics CD deck in New York at the beginning of the year but i didn't have the space in my calendar, however after finally getting my hands on one I have concluded that I will now switch over to cd's in the short term, this will take some time and allow me to road test the machine in clubs. Initially I will bring my own, but would appreciate any promoters that read this and have budget to either hire or buy, to supply 2-3 of them, eventually my technical rider will change and any one with questions can send either an email to my office or speak to my road manager direct. Please note that Pioneer/Denon or other makes of cd decks will not be used, furthermore technical 1210's will still be needed. I know some of you flat earthers will be upset, but whilst i love vinyl its time has been written on the wall for ages and i felt that Final Scratch and Albeton live wasn't for me in terms of interface and sound quality (although some djs have their own valid and difference opinions). In my mind at the moment the pro's outweigh the cons, it will speed up the both mine and other producers music to clubs (being cheaper for smaller labels/artists), the bass frequencies will be fatter and stereo (in non bridged systems), the flexibility in mixing techniques not available to vinyl (and some computer systems ) are exciting, and it uses a standard that is already tried and tested. The only cons that i can think of are slower load up time than vinyl and inability of titling each cd with vdu outlet to a central LCD. I believe these are not unsurmountable problems. I must also say that this is an entirely professional decision, I am not sponsored by this company. Finally............ Notice to promo/record companies and artists: Please from now on can you send both vinyl and cd of all singles/albums that you feel suit the material that i play out e.g.: Novamute, Ruskin, inigo Kennedy, Victim, end2end, twilight, 76, turbo, Birmingham Boys, DiskoB, Gigolo, electrix etc. etc. etc. Can all cd's please be labelled clearly as cd's without writing/print can easily be lost, also please don't forget to finalise, and if it has been professionally mastered please label production copy. Only 16bit 44.1 will be played, mp3 will be ignored. Finally, if you can afford to, than please send any back cat on cd if you know i have been a fan! Many many thanks Dave Clarke

QUOTE Good evening parents、 tonight i gonna take you on a tour、 Club Bad where all the bad little kiddy’s go、 to try to leave there body’s、 by various means of methods、 anything necessary、 some things that you’ll quite be acustomed to、 so i think we’ll each and everyone of you、 with your own individual、 on the camera、 so that you can take pictures of these bad little kiddy’s、 doin’ these bad little things、 for tomorrows paper、 so whatabout your fifthteen dollars and prepare to enter Club Bad Wouldn’t you know it、 not here more than thirty seconds and already I see a bad little kid doin’ bad little things、 he is sucking on a balloon、 now、 this is not an ordinary balloon、 parents、 it’s a balloon filled with the gas called nitrous oxide、 laughing gas、 hi hi hi hi、 ha ha、 but this is no laughing matter、 camera’s ready prepare the flash Now overhere we have little Johnny and Miss Sue、 smokin’ on a joint、 this is not the thing to do、 i think that we have to take pictures of these two、 camera’s ready prepare the flash Now overhere we have some naughty naughty kids、 they brought in they’re own liquor、 to the party、 now we cannot have that now parents can we? Six packs and Pipes、 i think not、 so、 camera’s ready prepare the flash

what programs do you write your tunes on?
i dont care what programs you have installed or what programs you can write tunes on (or even what programs you think are superiour). i just want to know what programs you use by default. i'm using fruity loops. used to use sound forge 4 (to tweek my samples) alot as well, but not touched it for a little while now

selfish people on comedowns
how can some people be so fuking small minded not to relise that their weekend activities are pushing everyone they love away! i ahve nothing against people taking drugs as long as they dont take out their comedowns on everone else i've just had to say goodbye to an ex of mine because she was basically a fuk head. get mashed at the wkds and then being bitchy during the week. then when i told her to sort her life out she turned on me and said if i wasnt so nice all the time then it wouldnt be so hard for her to nice back. needless to say i wont be chatting to her again.... techno for the hardhouse clubs
seeing as a few people on here are getting into their techy hardhouse, i thought i would post a list of a few of my favourite techno/hardhouse crossover labels Hydrolix D.A.V.E. the drummers label. Powertools Ants label. most of the releases seem to have a good chunky beat too it. Bang On alot of their stuff isnt really that hardhousy but occationally somethings released that would work well. one of my most loved labels and they seem to be getting even better lately! RAW Guy Mcaffers label. not really too fond of this as ever release seems like a clone of the last. but if its hard pacey techno your after then this will do the trick. deffinatly worth keeping an eye out as they have a tendancy to suprise me every once in a while Cluster Records i seem to buy this label religiously lately. maybe a little too 'technoy' for most hardhouse sets, but seeming as most of their releases are hard with a punchy bassline, its not too difficalt to slot a tune in or too Stay Up Forever this is more hardhouse with techno elements imo. fomulaic (although not in the bad sence) and every tune has an acid line running through it. No Entery / Re-Entery another nice acid techno label. incidently, Ali Wilson has releases on this label. Smitten only got one record on this label as its been a bit of a bitch finding their tunes. thats all i can think off off the top of my head. i'm sure you've already heard of most, if not all, of the labels all ready. but i know how hard it can be at times to find records on different genres that crossover to your style. hope this has been of some help
