Arturia Pigments has been my number one synth plugin since 2021. It’s my go-to instrument for serious projects or when I’m just looking for some sound-design fun, yet I still discover new sounds and techniques almost every time I fire it up. Those pleasant sonic surprises, and moments of inspiration sparked by a new sound, come thick and fast while exploring Pigments 6. Crucial to Pigments’ versatility is a semi-modular design that allows a wide choice of tone generation, filter and effect models to be loaded into various slots that host them. Unsurprisingly, the recently launched sixth generation of the synth features new models in all of these areas… The post Can any other synth match Arturia Pigments 6’s astonishing sonic diversity? appeared first on MusicTech. Arturia’s compact analogue drum machine gets a retro makeover. Introducing the DrumBrute Impact 1984. Arturia has never been one to shy away from a product makeover, and now it’s the turn of the DrumBrute Impact to get a shot in the arm visually. The DrumBrute Impact 1984 gives this little powerhouse a more retro visual feel with an all-new white case. Colour scheme aside, the DrumBrute Impact 1984 is identical to its darker brother in every way. Released after the successful DrumBrute, the DrumBrute Impact was a smaller, punchier device with a slightly reduced specification but retaining its hefty Brute-powered sound. Featuring 10 tweakable sounds, the Impact has all the classic analogue drum tools one might expect back in 1984. The kick and two snares have pitch, tone/snap and decay and there are a couple of Tom sounds to play with. You get one cymbal and a hi-hat plus a clap and a cowbell because every drum machine needs a cowbell! ... The post Arturia DrumBrute Impact 1984 appeared first on gearnews.com. View the full article

This is the last chance to get an intro offer for MiniBrute V (offer expires in 48 hours). MiniBrute V not only recreates the distinctive analog grit of its hardware predecessor but elevates it with modern flexibility, expanded polyphony and a built-in FX rack - add the brute spirit to your production. 199€ 99€ (or even less if you have other Arturia products) https://www.arturia.com/products/software-instruments/minibrute-v/overview TAE® Powered (True Analog Emulation) TAE® is Arturia's proprietary technology for creating virtual synthesizers that emulate classic analog synthesizers Accurately reproduces classic sounds: TAE® models the behavior of analog components like oscillators and filters at a very detailed level. This allows Arturia's virtual synths to capture the warmth, character, and imperfections of classic analog gear. More realistic oscillators: TAE® faithfully recreates the sound generation of analog oscillators, including complex Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) for creating unique timbres. Detailed filter modeling: TAE® models the specific circuits used in famous analog filters, allowing Arturia's virtual synths to reproduce the filtering characteristics that contribute to the sound of those instruments. Arturia's TAE® technology is designed to give musicians a virtual instrument that sounds and behaves as close as possible to a real analog synthesizer. This lets them create classic sounds or explore new sonic textures without the limitations of traditional digital synthesizers. YouTube Videos

Inspired by Arturia’s MiniBrute V and the original’s lack of presets, I decided to pick some great patch sheets to encourage your hands-on sound design. When I was reviewing Arturia’s latest software synthesizer, the MiniBrute V, it reminded me of the days when synths had no preset memories and the only way to share sounds was to create patch sheets. These sheets were the patch memories of old. We used to hand draw them, synth outlines and all. Even if you’re copying someone else’s patch sheet, it is a very rewarding experience to create a sound from scratch. In doing so, you learn how each parameter shapes a sound. You begin to understand how that particular synthesizer works. So I have gathered up some patch sheets from various places. Each can be used on the original hardware or software versions. Resist the temptation to flick through factory presets and get to know your instrument by using your hands, eyes and ears. Happy patching! ... Everyone has their own approach to making music. Whether you’re working with hardware or software, MIDI is one of the languages that lets your devices communicate. The beauty of MIDI lies in its flexibility. There’s something to suit your needs whatever your setup. Are you a pianist looking to control your virtual instruments expressively? A live performer who wants to trigger samples on the fly? Or perhaps you’re searching for a more organic way to program automation. These are just a handful of simple use cases for MIDI controllers, but the technology is infinitely expandable. It lets you chain together complex networks of synths, create an intricate live looping rig, or even control DMX lighting in sync with your playing...
