Moreover, there are plenty of deep house DJs that mix well according to your and your audience’s tastes. Therefore, find the one that makes you dance even when you don’t want to. The best way to find out about a DJ is by listening to their music. If you like it, then it means that they have something good in their bag of tricks. Audience Requirement When hiring a DJ for a festival, you should know what kind of audience you expect in the hall or on the ground so that you can hire a DJ who matches the music preferences of your guests and members. Ask DJs You should ask them how they work and listen carefully to their answers (and not just take their word for it). If a partygoer wants to DJ but doesn’t know how to set up their equipment and the host is unwilling to assist them, the partygoer has no business being there. It’s crucial for their amusement as well as your own. If a DJ isn’t able to mix well enough or set up properly, no one will want to hear any of the songs on their set list again after hearing them only once. 8. Guy Hornsby has been DJing in and around London for close to 3 years after first putting needle to vinyl in Dec '99. Brought up on the house sound of the north in Sheffield in the first half of the 90s, he has always been a dedicated music lover and that comes across in his mixing style and personality behind the decks. A career starting in the bedroom led to first forays into playing out the following summer, making his debut in August 2000, behind the decks in the Glasshouse, at house night Full Frontal. Successful promotion work through the year for London-based Wildchild also saw him gain his first residency in November, playing at the Hanover Grand and later Fink, as he honed his upfront, crowd-friendly house sound. After a break in 2001 travelling Asia and Australasia he re-entered the scene, playing a tougher and more varied style. 2002 saw him spreading his wings outside London, thanks mainly to work with 4clubbers.net (where he reviews festivals and clubs across the UK), rewarded with a set at the Sundissential reopening warm-up at the Academy in Birmingham in July, Sacrilege in Nottingham (recently voted 4th best night in the UK by Mixmag) and a residency at the Dogstar in Brixton. Further hard work this winter has brought more dates in London and beyond, with his set for Wildchild v Nukleuz at Heaven in November a resounding success. 18. Hi, Im new. Can you tell. Im a DJ in a biggish nightclub in NZ. So Im here to find like minded hard dance addtcis. Nice to meet U.
  19. Did anyone watch that last nite? About an 11 year old DJ that was hitting Ibiza. Ever so slightly pushy parents methinks. Didn't actually hear him mix as Channel 4 just played choons over the top, but according to crowd reaction he was meant to be quite good. ?????
  20. just wondered if anyone is that bothered if a DJ turns up and does sets by CD and not Vinyl?? Phil Reynolds mixed CD'S on Sat at Brixton??
  21. Ok when you mix songs together and/or are going from one song to another is it neccasery to alter the pitch so the songs have the same bpm or can you just mix away anyway?
  22. I gather some of us on here are DJ's - whats everyones style? Rather than just meeting up and clubbin together why dont we organise a clubtheworld night somewhere, makes sense? Me, well im into House/Garage/Hardhouse/Retro/OldSkool/D&B/Trance all sorts i like to keep an open mind, plus it means i can pretty much work anywhere - versatility is the key Also what makes a DJ Unique - well i try to make my sets unique, take for example David Morales, this guy deserves respect, saw him at the mint club a while back, learned a few things. When im playin i try to [censored] with the crowd as much as possible the main trick i find is to take plenty of Accapella's - this way i can drop one over the top and really screw poeples heads up, hard as it is to do its well worth masterin - anyone else?
