The Fridge #The Fridge
The Fridge was a nightclub in Brixton, South London, founded in 1981 by Andrew Czezowski and Susan Carrington, who also ran the iconic punk venue The Roxy. Starting in a small space, it quickly moved to a larger location before finding its home in the converted Palladium Picture House in 1985. The Fridge became renowned for its radical décor and innovative features like video screens and a chill-out lounge, playing a significant role in the early 80s New Romantic scene and hosting soon-to-be famous acts like Eurythmics and Pet Shop Boys. It was also home to popular club nights such as Soul II Soul and Love Muscle, and even had its own record label, Latex Records. After a long and influential run, The Fridge closed in 2010 and was later reopened as Electric Brixton, continuing its legacy as a key music venue in the area.
