How can you not agree with them going after people who download films and music for 'personal use'?!? Its still theft, and at the end of the day, somebodies livlihood is at stake because of it

 

You wouldnt like it if you worked at tesco and they said "we cant afford to pay you because people have been nicking food - we didnt think it was a problem as they were only taking 1 item at a time and not selling them on, but now we realise we havent actually made any money because EVERYONE has been doing it"

Nope, obtaining ANY copywritten material in ANY form is illegal unless you have paid the neccesary people for it (and I dont mean the odd looking bloke at a market stall )

I didnt mean in the literal sense Chris, I ment it as there are worse crimes to be dealt with before arresting file sharers, haha im not saying they shouldnt do it though!! eeek get me now??

I dont deny that, but your missing the statistics from your arguement... the number of grannies mugged a year will be minute in comparison to the number of people who steal other peoples work etc

No because programs that utilise p2p networking are not illegal - Windows XP has it installed as part of its 'remote servicing' systems... its the files users send to and from these programs that is illegal which is why the only way to stop is to go after everyone who shares them
