i dont know but i think we all notice the drop in popularity of this website.

its forever empty exempt from the usual regulars such as myself, shaney, lisa, james and bukey etc etc (u know who the rest of u are)...

 

message board hits are on a low i think at the moment. the place was raging a few months ago.

 

perhaps people are getting involved in other things or theyre being stopped from accessing it at work, but i just know that i dont think all 1000+ members of ClubTheWorld give the site a great visit...

We've always had peaks and troughs (*sp!) as have other boards.

 

I think its a combination of issues;

 

1) loads more message boards around now - much easier for anyone to set one up

2) people get bored of the same site / same people - especially if 1 or 2 have fucked them off (used to happen a lot on here, not anymore thank god)

3) people are bored of message boards - its nothing new and there IS more to life than being sat in front of a pc

4) people prefer more personal chatting on MSN and using webcams etc

 

I have actually dropped and rebuilt the CTW 3 times now and started membership from 0 each time as there were a lot of repeat registrations and old accounts which were never used. I wont be re-starting the membership again on here as you do end up pissing people off and putting them off from re-registering. Also I feel the membership is fairly accurate, even though 350 people have never posted then do read a lot.

 

From our point of view the site is better if its just used to check out whats on once or twice and week and to reply to posts if they are going and want to meet up - thats all this site is really here for. Its really nice though when you get people additionally getting involved in random threads as you get to know them better etc, but its not a must.

 

Most of the original core membership was created from meeting people FIRST and then telling them about the site. This is how I expect it to grow again this year as myself and a few of the people behind the site are likely to be out a lot more this year than last year. Last year's registrations were purely based on word of mouth - I actually believe this is the best form of advertising as we end up with the people we really want on here - i.e. people who want to regularly meet up with the core membership.

 

I've said it before but this site is non-profie and here for anyone to use for free. I find the site useful for meeting new people as many others do - but there will be people who dont find it to be of any use at all, or who simply get bored of it - hence membership numbers go up and down.

How popular do we want this site to be ?

 

Last time it got 'big' everyone complained that it was TOO large and there were too many posts & people to keep track off - it lost it's friendly vibe. I beleive the atmosphere is better now and more like it used to be.

 

Dont worry, following Tidy the site will be mega busy again - it always is. Then it will drop off again until the next event - say Global etc...
