I know the dictionary says a child of un-married parents but when do the parents have to be married , at the time of the birth or is it OK to wait till after the birth ? & does the child become a bastard if the parents become divorced ?

A silly question asked by my daughter & I dont know the answer . question.gif

child born out of wedlock would be a bastard. i think we talked about this before somewhere. i think the child would still be a bastard because it was born when the parents were not married. if born in wedlock and the parents divorce the child wouldnt become a bastard because it was born while the parents were married.

sadly its a status. no1 should be boxed and categorized but it happens. if the child is born out of wedlock its a bastard because the parents werent married. otherwise it isnt.

That title is just so not you lol.gif

Don't really know the correct answer (that's if there is a correct one in this day and age)

But i'd go with ... it's when the child is born out of wedlock wouldn't matter if the mother 9 months gone when she walked down the aisle smile.gif

I use to think it was a child concieved out of wedlock. If that is the case then there are a lot more bastards running round than we originally thought.

At a guess, the term 'bastard' originated way before divorce lawyers had even been thought of... ie, when a marriage lasted a lifetime

Sooooo, to answer your question, I would guess that it all depends on the parents status at the time the child is conceived perhaps??
