Above & Beyond rank among dance music's most exciting talents. Their genre-defining productions - often released on their own Anjunabeats label - have become an essential tool for the world's leading DJ's and have set the benchmark for the new generation of dance music producers.

In 2004 Above & Beyond scooped Radio 1’s Essential Mix of the Year - prompting Pete Tong to describe them as the ‘UK’s new dance superstars'. Since then, Above & Beyond have enjoyed a meteoric rise to the top of the global dance music scene, culminating in six nominations at this year's International Dance Music Awards in Miami.

Above & Beyond's weekly Trance Around The World radio show has built a fanatical global following on the internet. The show stands at the forefront of trance and has been responsible for breaking many of the scene's biggest records.

Above & Beyond have also recorded under a number of different aliases including Aalto, Free State, Nitromethane, Oceanlab, P.O.S and Tranquility Base.

In 2006 Above & Beyond released their debut artist album, ‘Tri-State’, to critical acclaim. DJ Magazine described the album as 'Brilliant. 5/5' while The Sun - the UK's biggest selling daily newspaper - called it 'the most original trance album for years'.

Splank Records 3rd Birthday party....

Back in 2003 Jonny Strinati (aka Jonny Likes Vinyl) met up with Chris Hughes (Chris Likes Cassettes) at college in Manchester having both wandered in from relative obscurity. Jonny's previous musical outings was holding up club owners in Leciester at gun point while Chris was terrorising the streets of Wirral with his busking. After sharing musical tastes in techno and house Jonny stumbled across some early Fingerlickin' tracks. Both were sold and the idea of Splank was conceived.

Splank!'s main mission was to keep breaks funky by stealing ideas off truly talented people such as Parliament, Earth Wind & Fire, Rick James and general 70's & 80's disco funk, for there own gain to form a new genre, P-Funk Breaks.

Now as they move into their 3rd year of running Splank! The guys have established Splank as one of Breaks' freshest labels receiving a nomination for Breakthrough Label in Breakspoll 2006 and introducing artists such as Darftphunk, Strider, Phonat, Moston & Malente and Groove Allegiance.

Dont miss the Splank 3rd birthday celebrations as they host a room with Tangled at the music box, Oxford Road, Manchester on Saturday 12th May where you can catch Groove Allegiance and Darftphunk spinning alongside the Tangled Breaks residents Steve Thorpe and Russ Drury.

I hope to see some of you there.
