The Digital Society 1st Birthday....

The 8th of February 2008 sees Digital Society celebrate its 1st Birthday in stunning fashion. With a line up that would grace any venue in the world, Digital Society is pleased to announce that none other than UK Trance icon Matt Hardwick tops the bill. Matt’s reputation as the most respected Trance DJ in the country is well justified, after being Gatecrasher resident for almost 10 years and playing at every credible event the UK has to offer. Joining Matt at the top of the roster is fellow Trance legends Solarstone, who are famed for the legendary anthem, the one and only, ‘Seven Cities’, and man of the moment, Dogzilla’s Simon Patterson, whose driving style and consistent production work makes him the next big thing. Danish Progressive wonderkid Niklas Harding also returns to the DS decks for the second time to complete a guest quartet of the highest order. Digital Society has prided itself on being at the fore front of the re-emerging Trance scene in 2007, showcasing some of the finest talent across the world, including an impressive 9 UK debuts alongside the more established superstars, and with great pleasure, DS brings together a Birthday event of epic proportions to celebrate a truly fantastic first year.

Also featuring in the main room on this special occasion is the full compliment of the Digital Society resident team. Headed by Enhanced Recordings boss Will Holland and Conspiracy Recordings man Activa, and completed by rising stars Kane Nelson, Paul Pearson and Rav Takhar – the DS residents have been the basis of the Digital Society ethos throughout 2007, showcasing the full spectrum of the Trance genre.

Digital Society welcomes back Blank to host room2, headlined by Slave Recordings man Kristoph, and also featuring Zade Cross, Freesoup and Marc Cruickshank, covering a blend of all things House, ranging from Electro-tinged Prog through to tech-induced mayhem.

In room3, Traffic Magazine arrives at DS to host this special 1st Birthday addition, with a growing reputation as the clubbers guide to Leeds, an refreshing alternative offering more deep chilled out House beats from local stars, Jay Kilka, Death on the Balcony, and Mundros.

In the wonderful surroundings of Leeds most intimate venue MyHouse, with the fantastic DS production & decor, the awesome FunktionOne soundsystem, the renowned garden terrace, Blank and Traffic Magazine hosting rooms 2 & 3, the friendliest staff in Leeds, drink promotions galore and with lots of other treats in store, Digital Society’s 1st Birthday promises to be a true statement of intent and is set to be the Birthday party of all Birthday parties!

ARTIST PRESS RELEASE FOR DIGITAL SOCIETY'S FIRST BIRTHDAY

The first big DS party of 2008 is fast approaching and boy have we got a storming event planned for you all. With it being the first birthday Digital Society has put together a colossal line up that is sure to make every trance fan ooze with joy.

Friday February 8th 2008 is a defining date as it sees Digital Society turn 1 years old. On this date sees some of the finest DJ’s that the trance spectre has to offer. Headlining this enormous event is none other than Matt Hardwick. Matt is no stranger to big events having clocked up a hell of lot air miles in his illustrious career. He has played all over the world from South Africa, Australia, Asia, South America, USA and all the way back to the UK where he has played events such as the sell out Don Valley stadium gig in front of 28,000 people on NYE 2000 and the magnificent NEC events in front of 15000 people for the legendary Gatecrasher. Not resting on his DJing laurels Matt has also had fantastic productions out over the years. His collaborations with Smith and Pledger in their hit singles ‘Day One’ and ‘Connected’ were real favourites amongst ranks. Armin Van Buuren, Tiesto, Ferry Corsten and Agnelli and Nelson to name a few were supporters. And with the follow up ‘Fallen Tides’ looking set to be a massive hit in 2008 things are once again on the up for Matt. The DS crowd know they are in for real treat when Matt steps up on the wheels of steel..

Joining Matt is another legend and a man who does not need any introduction. Solarstone has been responsible on many occasions over the years for producing quality tracks such as ‘Seven Cities’ and ‘Solarcoaster’ to name a few which arguably can be described as being responsible for some of recent club history’s most defining moments. With his new album ‘Rain Stars Eternal’ scheduled for a release in April 2008 things are looking up for the Midland based star. Renowned as a DJ who never fails to deliver the goods, Rich Solarstone's worldwide travels have taken in some of the biggest events and festivals across the globe, and also some of the most bizarre, including islands in the Philippines, bush parties in Australia and massive festivals in the heart of Brazil. Solarstone also run the 'Deepblue' record label and its sub-labels, which maintain a steady flow of high quality and inspirational releases, including some of the biggest club records of recent years - Young Parisians 'Jump The Next Train' (2004-5) Solarstone & Jes - Like A Waterfall' (2006) and FKN 'Why?' being just 3 top notch examples. A mix of quality trance will be the order of the day for the DS faithful as Rich Solarstone will be showcasing his quality sound through the Funktion One sound system which will cause a happy stir amongst raving clubbers.

Our third guest is Simon Patterson aka Dogzilla. Simon is one of the hottest properties in dance music at this moment in time. He is firmly forging his own career as an in-demand DJ, producer and remixer. 2007 was a another great year for Simon production wise as the likes of Panic Attack/Strip Search and Well See/Bulldozer. Just about every DJ on the planet imaginable who played Trance etc played Bulldozer. With 3 more solo tracks on Spinnin record label scheduled for release in the coming months Simon is really on the top of his game at this moment in time. Not just intent on spending time in the studio Simon’s Djing has really come on in the last 5 years or so. Rocking places such as Rotterdam in front of a 500,000 capacity crowd. He has also played Dance Valley, Full on Ferry, Planet Love festival and various other dates in Ibiza, Canada, Germany as well rocking the biggest clubs in the UK. Simon is primed to tear up the DS dancefloor with his own unique style.

Making his 2nd appearance at DS is the Danish destroyer Niklas Harding. Since his last appearance back in June 07 Niklas has continued to rise in the scene with his own blend of banging house and progressive tunes to melodic trance tracks. He has played the biggest clubs in Denmark (Gorgeous) as well rocking the likes of Canada, Russia, Holland, Czech Republic, Norway, and Sweden and in the UK he has a residency at London brand: Electronic Sessions. On the production side of things Niklas has had major support from the likes of Armin Van Buuren, Markus Schulz and Andy Moor to name a few with big hits such as ‘Blue Circles’ and ‘Ice Beach’. Niklas is ready to take the Digital Society crowd on a journey.

Joining our guests will be resident Activa. Rob has been an integral part of the DS success story as he was on the line up on the opening night a year ago. Since then he has secured a bi – monthly residency at Digital Society as well really making his mark in the scene with a host of top productions and remixes which have really become firm favourites among the likes of Pvd, Armin, John Askew etc. With a release on PvD’s Vandit label coming up and his Conspiracy Record Label continuing to bring out top quality tunage 2008 is going to be another great year for the man. His Dj diary has also increased in 2007 with appearances at the Gallery, Off The Rails and an International appearance in the US. Activa will be performing one of his legendary late sets at DS, which will really whip the crowd in a frenzy.

Another one who has been in from the start is Will Holland. Will has continued to provide us with quality sets and productions in the last year or so. He has a new Enhanced album coming out mixed by himself and Alex Morph and Woody Van Eyden. With 2 new vocal tracks in the pipeline along with his Enhanced Radio show things are on the up for Will.

Making up the residents are the co-founders of Digital Society: Kane Nelson, Paul Pearson and Rav Takhar. All 3 are engaging in a 3 way b2b as they look to finish of the birthday celebration of in style and end the night with a bang making it an unforgettable night for all involved.
