Pointless posts

I think we need to address an issue. People pissing about on the message board(No names mentioned) Random posts are pointless, take up room and cost James money as the site keeps on going down due the amount of data on it, if some people stopped random post then it would be ok and bearable on the site. Comments.

Some posts just take the piss about pointlessness and stupidity.

i agree with robin. i've been criticised for being way too serious. i think there are some people on here who could be accused of being way too trivial and/or way too prolific.

 

i think a balance is needed.

YES - it def is a problem and does need to be looked at, but at the end of the era, you can't really control what people are posting, it is a public message board and everyone has there own individual opinion on who posts a load of old kanka.

 

You'll never stop shite conversation from happening thats the thing, especially in randon talk, after all it is random talk

 

I'll be the first to admit ive posted irrelevant conversation before, im sure we all have ?

But does that sort of talk not bond and bring ravers together ?

 

After all life isn't all about clubbing, although its not far off !

dont worry guys - i'm working on getting the club/music related topics to appear at the top of the active topics page - so you can ignore the random chat topics if you like - we definitely need to make it clearer and quicker to find the posts you personally are looking for on a given day.

Not bein funny to everyone here cos i think ur all stars but havent we had the conversation bout this and decided that you cant please anyone, like i always said if u dont wana read it/reply to it then dont...simple as, nobody is forcing you to!!

 

Like Grant said, i think we're all guilty of posting irrelevant/stoopid/pointless posts myself included, but at the end of the day its the whole variety of different types of chat subjects that make CTW what it is, i mean how well do u think the music and clubbing forums would do without the general chit chat and random things posted, i for one would be less inclined to wana meet with/come out with you all if these werent here and as James said its about Clubbing Together which also means Talking Together no matter what its about, if someone has something to post about ok it might not get a great deal of interest but there may be one or 2 people who do have something to say back to the person!!

 

So rather than keep bringing the subject up and there fore using more webspace goin over the same old things and coming to the same conclusions dont we all just sit back, chill and have a laugh....after all that is what we're here for isnt it??

I can see both sides of the arguement.

I think the message board as a whole works fantastically. It's bringing people together from all over the country, and the rest of the world too. Alot of people have been introduced to the site by people that have actually met other CTW-ers before (me included), so know what they are like in person. Others on here could've just stumbled across the site. They might never meet these people, and see the message boards as a way of interacting with people with the same interests as themselves, so personally i think GO FOR IT!

I think the random, sometimes mindless posts that appear, are all part of the ''i wanna get inside your head and see what sort of person you really are'' game, which is the same game we all play all the time in everyday life - the fact it's being played over the net on a message board is irrelevant - we all still want to know what sort of person we're talking to, and might someday meet (or not as the case may be).

The other side of it all is James, but he's not the problem though. The problem is money. Every time we post comments (this one included), it costs this poor fella money. It's not cheap either. The site went down last night cos he'd run out of data transfer credit (i think), which goes down at an alarming rate, especially when the whole contents of a topic are quoted in replies.

I can't see a way out of this really. We all want to keep posting, but i'm sure James can think of better things to do with his hard earned cash than pump it all into this. The site is here to promote clubbing, to let clubbers know where they're all off to and when, and for like minded people to get together and hang out. Let's keep it that way and hope that James has a fully loaded bank account that can handle the cost of us lot having a giggle
