But were not talkin about HH DJ's are we??? If we are the topic should be titled 'Hardest Hard House DJ' but it isnt, os that covers all DJ's.

Yeah, but can a DJ not play fast and hard??

a DJ can indeed. i still needed to point out there was a difference as i'm fed up with kids on childish msgboards (so obviously i'm ruling out every1 on this site and this msgbaord as a whole) saying lab4 r hard mad.gif

i was fully aware that the topic was about ne DJs, but u said that ur mentioned djs piss on the djs i'd mentions and i was pointing out that if its a diff genre then u cant really compare the 2.

i could say karim makes yoji look like a lightwaight, but yoji plays trance so it wouldn't b a fair comment as yoji plays trance the hardest way i've heard it being played

i hope that makes sence cuz iit did in me head

Agreed. IMHO if hard house or trance or techno or whatever is played too fast, it takes the edge off it for me... it just sounds a bit silly. A well-written, intense track with lots of movement and tough unrelenting rhythms can easily sound much pacier than a track with a higher BPM.

Some of the toughest, grittiest, nastiest, "hardest" music I've ever heard is in the region of 140bpm, generally more along the lines of techno rather than "hard house" per se. grin.gifgrin.gif

but i love techno and sum ppl find that dull so here u go

Aye, 'tis an acquired taste - which I'm very glad I acquired! Tough, dark, funky and hard - that's what I like thumbs.gif

I'm confused here, people saying Lab 4 aren't hard, and ting is. Is that *ting* resident at Purple Turtle? She is a cool lady, but she ain't hard.

I think hard is such a subjective term, I listen to dark industrial, imagine hard house sounds playing with a heavy metal approach. That to me is hard, sounds that destroy speakers. I know other people who think fast = hard.

This is too subjective

i deffo agree with u there blink

i used to listen to a lot of industrial techno (ultraviolance, atari teenage riot, etc) and they were deffo HARD (altho i dunno if they DJ)

but ne way, i've only heard *ting* 1nce and that was @ tidy london and she was unquestionably hard

Ultraviolence, cool. I sing "Hardcore Motherfucker" along to anything. Missed ATR when they were supporting NIN (d'oh) but apparently they didn't cut it. I may have heard *ting* at Tortute Garden once, and she may have been hard then, but I have known her be blown away by a few people at the Turtle.

(I was having this discussion with Sin, and we both agree that Japanese DJ's seem to be the hardest)

Agreed, I think they're more into the technoey end of things.

IMHO a minimal techno edge "hardens" up a tune a lot.

The only "hard house" I can tolerate is the heavily techno-influenced stuff; I just find it much more interesting and hypnotic to listen to. And I can't stand fast, "happy" sounding music! Give me a slower, darker, tougher tune any day. grin.gif
