Once again, its the old chesnut of "its the people you're with" which is exactly true. Agreed, theres nothing better than wicked music but I cant stand this "oh you have to be there, blah blah is playing". And what? If it was out of meeting wicked new people and some DJ that plays decent music I know where I'd be. WIth those people.

I must confess I fall into the "You gotta go cos x is playing, but that is because I am picky about my music, and don't see the point in going if it is going to be a "generic" night. I think Ian M and Farley are the only DJ's I would really say that about. I like to think it is because I am older and more discerning, I won't go to a dance club just to get bolloxed and talk crap.

 

(Having said all that, I am thinking of going to SS this weekend just because Pepsi and my mate Paul are going - and the hope that the cute babe i got talking to the other week is there)

seriously no, i'm not bored of clubs at all, i'd happily go out every weekend if i had the chance, i'm not ready to give it up for a while yet. my gripe is more with the way it's going.

 

the whole scene is heading for major burn-out. everything's being done to death; everyone's out to grab their slice of the pie in what's essentially now an industry, not a "scene", per se.

 

i don't see how youth "brands" which have practically built a full-time business on drug use (IMO) can really sustain people's interest. i'm acutely worried that it's almost certainly not about the music any more - and yes, fair enough, it's about meeting people and that's great - i love that part! but there seems to be a rather large percentage of people going to clubs at the moment who are keen just to follow whatever the latest "trend" is... the same kind of people who when they go home won't think twice about sticking Westlife on and claiming they sing some great songs....

the same DJs week in, week out, playing the same tunes to the same people who are all getting stupidly wasted on any drugs they can find (cough syrup, anyone?), all in one big room owned by some corporation, bastardising a particular element of 90s youth culture for quick profit while it still can, tongue firmly in cheek with its brands and icons, designed to appeal to literally the lowest common denominator.

for me its not about the clubs i go to but about my love for music and the friends you can make or go with. i had a big passion for clubbin b4 i had my youngest son and im starting to get that back. b4 i fell pregnant i had so many great friends and i lost contact with them. i think the feeling is amazing being in a club with an amazing atmosphere with great people that have the same passion as you. i mean ctw is great for this atmosphere, everyone shares a passion for music and its not like cyber stick with cyber and funky stick with funky, everyone goes together and has an amazing time. the atmosphere and the people your with all sharing the same passion is what counts along with great music. when you get this feeling i dont care if the club is not much to look at (such as passion as there toilets can flood) as long as the music is great and the atmosphere is amazing. sorry but thats my oppinion

i agree...it doesnt matter where you are..if the music lifts you and you can look at other people who give you that knowing smile..that you can all sense that massive euphoric feeling together..there is nothing better. Everyone is on here for our passion in music and wanting to enjoy it together. It isnt just about one dj, it could be just about one tune that just does it for you..
