what are your thoughts on this?

as they are not creating a baby (just the embryo), i'm all for it.

its got to be better than testing on animals

surely if there just creating the embryo then they cant fully tell what problems could happen in life, such as mental, physical problems and medical problems????

I don't think they will be able to fully tell, but I think a lot of diseases have a unique genetic "footprint" that can be spotted early, years before the actual onset of the disease.

I have no problems with this at all, as for the rights and wrongs, that's pretty much up to the law makers to decide. I sure wouldn't leave a decision on this subject to the uneducated masses. As for "playing god", well that's just nonsense.

Well im in agreement with you Alex, if it is gonna help us eventually to better understand diseases etc, then im all for it, however there are im sure many who wi8ll disagree & say it is playing god & that although only an embryo, it is still a life in early stages!!

Yes, but she just thinks she's talking, not nagging...

As for human cloning, I say let them do it...

the only problem i do have with this is the whole decensortising issue.

once we get used to the idea of embryo's being cloned, then the idea of babies wont seem to radical.

i'm not saying thats any reason not to go ahead with this reasurch, however where do you draw the line?

Not sure "desensitising" comes into it (if that's what you mean)...

I'm sure the prospect of having to bring up your kid for the next 18 years is pretty daunting either way!
