once we get used to the idea of embryo's being cloned, then the idea of babies wont seem to radical.

Not sure "desensitising" comes into it (if that's what you mean)...

I'm sure the prospect of having to bring up your kid for the next 18 years is pretty daunting either way!

I'm in favour of human cloning techniques for the treatment of genetic illnesses. I disagree with "designer" babies for purely aesthteic reasons but if a couple can't have a child without it being at risk of a genetic disease then I'm all for it.

I disagree that a clone of an already living person should be allowed to brought to term (that leaves the door open for a Brave New World kind of situation) but I have nothing against clones being used to reproduce new organs or for stem cells etc.

I'm pretty sure it's possible to grow an organ in a lab from cloned cells, this would at a stroke get rid of the organ donor problem. I think the anti-cloning lobby are taking their fight to the wrong people. Most people are against cloning people in the same way that we did for Dolly and it's also illegal in most of the world. Frankly, I think it's their ignorance that's blinding them and holding back important medical research.

i ment desensitizing, as in people will be less fazed by other cloneing issues.
