CTW Members TomD Posted April 13, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted April 13, 2003 have to say it doesn't really make me want to move very much. there's no real punch to it, the trancey-ish riff adds something but it's not really enough. CTW Members Blink Posted April 13, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted April 13, 2003 OK, firstly, it seemed to be distorting a bit, not sure if it was the crappy soundcard and headphones I was listening to it too, or if it was that the mix wa "too hot" (clipping), I think it was the latter. I like the intro, the percussion is hard, and the whole thing has a nice dark feel to it. The only crticisms I would have are that it is a bit one paced, and doesn't seem to go anywhere. I think you should bring the synth parts forward a bit in the mix, put in a few breaks and builds, and I, personally, wold have a change to a totally different riff at some point. This may sound like harsh criticism, but if you look at it, all I am actually criticising is the mix, and the arrangement. If you made the mix less hot (something I still haven't figured out how to do in my mixes, but the post in the reason thread about mastering will make a good read), and just somewhere put in a "middle 16", which you will find most songs have a bit where they go off somewhere different for about 16 bars, then return back to the main hook, you could have a good, dark tune on your hands. CTW Members Mr Happy Posted April 13, 2003 Author CTW Members Share Posted April 13, 2003 chears blink - thats exactly the sorta help i was after i knew i didnt like it but i didnt know y - just needed some guiance btw - the mix is too hot - still working out how to have the sound levels audiable without getting clipping, tis amazingly tricky. altho having said that there is deliberate distortion put into the bassline - i love that raw sound u get Quote Mr Happy's fishy fish MangaFish munch munch MSN & e-mail - mangafish@mangafish.net AOL - MangaMorgan Online mixes - http://www.mangafish.net/mixes/

CTW Members Simon_C1562626685 Posted April 14, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted April 14, 2003 Right, this is takin ages to download, lol. But i'll write this as i listen to it. First off this is not the kind of style music i would generally listen to as i'm more a hard trance man Kick is nice and hard, altho as was mentioned b4 does seem to be distorting a bit. I'm not overly keen on the percussion, it doesn't seem to have much of a flow to it (this is just personal opinion, maybe it comes from listening to too much hard trance, lol) Right, little trancy riff is nice, but maybe needs a little EQing work around the mid-high range. there are some nice FX in there. I'm not overly keen on the little out of tune bit @ about 3.11 into the tune. As was also mentioned earlier it is a bit one paced and also gets a bit repetetive. I like some of the synth work in the break just b4 the kick roll comes in. Erm, it really does sound very messy when it kicks back in. I like the little vocal bits they have been done really well. What i would suggest is try adding a few more FX, sweeps etc in there to add a little more interest, and also the little trancey riff in the build up seems a little dry, try adding a bit of reverb delay or a slight flange to it. I'm by no means a good producer, but this is just what i would do to the tune. Quote you need me i'm magic E, hehe
CTW Members Mr Happy Posted April 15, 2003 Author CTW Members Share Posted April 15, 2003 I'm by no means a good producer, but this is just what i would do to the tune. u dont need to be to have and idea where to take a tune or what to do with it all input is greatly appretiated Quote Mr Happy's fishy fish MangaFish munch munch MSN & e-mail - mangafish@mangafish.net AOL - MangaMorgan Online mixes - http://www.mangafish.net/mixes/
CTW Members IAHH1562627749 Posted April 26, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted April 26, 2003 still pretty dark, hehe i think the bass drum is a bit busy (maybe its the other bass drum - i think it might be playing at a slightly higher pitch, i'm a bit deaf at this kind of thing). i reckon it would be easy to get into if u chopped out those extra bassy drums, possibly replacin em with something lighter (like a distorted shaker) or just leaving them out altogether its been a while since i've listened to techno, so bear in mind my comments are coming from a house/trance/hardcore perspective. i mite just have to stick my techno tunes up here now ;-) Quote cyber on the inside desperately trying to fit in on the outside hair by tony and guy
