CTW Members Blink Posted April 29, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted April 29, 2003 I know a few people who say TractorDJ by Steinberg is good (Steinberg are a good name, they do the high-end sequencing software, Cubase). I reckon that if you installed 2 soundcards (after checking they would work together), you would define one sound card as your "cue output", and one as your "mix output", thus you would only need to have your headphones put into one soundcard. (But that is just a guess, so I would check that first)
CTW Members Simon_C1562626685 Posted April 29, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted April 29, 2003 Traktor is a feckin awesome mixing app, but it's actually from Native INstruments not Steniberg, but an equally quality comapny. As for setting up the sound cards i'm not entirely sure as i've never had to do this myself, but i think the Traktor instruction thing may have some kind of guide as to how to do this, i'll check it out later on tho to make sure Quote you need me i'm magic E, hehe

CTW Members Chewi1562627764 Posted April 30, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted April 30, 2003 ive come across software in the past for mixing MP3's live, but it was shite, utter crud...completely unusable in fact! lol not used traktor or whatever - but im guessing its not live, or is it?! anyway - proggies that are good for making "digitally mixed" CDs, IE, click, drag "Oooooo i'm a DJ!!!" lol are MixMeister (simple to use, pretty affective automatic beatmatcher, good for beginners) or Acid Pro - similar to mixmeister but u get far more control over the beatmatching when u import songs....but you will have to read the help files with that proggy! i did anyway Quote BigWideWorld Profile FaceParty Profile *** please donate to the "Get Chewi 1210's" fund ***

CTW Members Chewi1562627764 Posted April 30, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted April 30, 2003 dabble and test the water is my advice....you wouldnt marry the first girl u snogged now would you? anyway - mixmeisters autobeatmatcher sounds good in theory, in practice its no way near accurate enough, good enuf to piss around with tho Quote BigWideWorld Profile FaceParty Profile *** please donate to the "Get Chewi 1210's" fund ***

CTW Members Simon_C1562626685 Posted April 30, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted April 30, 2003 chewi matey, with traktor u are mixing live, u have to do pitch adjustments, speeding up and slowing down a record to bring it back in time, u can even scratch with it altho it's not overly easy to do. Also as another plus point for it, if u have 2 soundcards u can hook them into your DJM 600s(or whatever mixer you happen to have) and u can do ur EQing and crossfader actions from there, so all in all it's a pretty damn good piece of software. Can u tell i like it Quote you need me i'm magic E, hehe
