Here is the story so far, she told me she has a 3dfx voodoo 2 card, so I pointed her towards here

Voodoo Driver

 

She is now downloading this, which is a zip file (oh for a .exe) hopefully this zip will include a readme file which will talk her through installing the driver, but if it doesn't, you now know what I am trying to attempt.

 

I am 99% certain she is just running a generic windows driver, and if we can get the right driver on she will be fine.

(She does have the driver CD that came with her PC, but I cannot figure out where we are going wrong with installing the driver from that)
